An ENDOR study of the hole centre near an aluminium atom in smoky quartz gives the hyperfine interaction as A/sub ///=-14.08(5) MHz, Aperpendicular to =-17.34(10) MHz, and the quadrupole interactions as P=+1.58(2) MHz, eta =0.0(3).
