Abstract

Because traditional male gender‐role socialization prohibits male‐to‐male touching except in specific situations, many men in North American culture rarely have the chance to use physical contact to convey caring or closeness in male relationships. The author describes a men's therapy group in which touch seems to facilitate self‐disclosure and interpersonal communication.
