The hitherto unknown compound BaAg 6 O 4 was prepared by high pressure reactions. A single crystal X-ray examination made obvious that the BaAg 6 O 4 compound is isotypic with the compound SrAg 6 O 4 . A detailed discussion of the relations between the structures of BaAg 6 O 4 , Ag 2 O, BaCu 2 O 2 and BaO is given.
