Abstract

In subjects with gastro-oesophageal reflux, sleep arousals and awakenings are closely related to acid reflux events. Reflux-related arousals and awakenings are decreased by acid suppression. Acid suppression in selected subjects with reflux events and reduced sleep efficiency is associated with increased total sleep time, rapid eye movement sleep and sleep efficiency.
