Abstract

A new type of system theory called Similarity System Theory is introduced. Three new concepts, i.e., Similarity Unit, Similar Systems and Similarity Entropy are proposed. Two different kinds of distinction of the Similarity Unit may be made—i.e., Classical Similarity Unit and Fuzzy Similarity Unit. The numerical methods and dynamic analysis of the Similarity Unit and the Similarity System, measurement of similarity degree and the meaning of the Similarity Entropy, as well as origin of similarity, are investigated. Thus, the general principle of the Similarity System Theory is presented. Many potential applications of the Similarity System Theory are also considered.
