A method for the separation of isoenzymes by counter‐current distribution in aqueous biphasic systems is described. The phase systems used contained dextran and trimethylamino‐poly(ethyleneglycol). The method has been tested with three isoenzyme systems, namely, lactic dehydrogenase, malate dehydrogenase and enolase. Separation of isoenzymes in extracts of tissue or cells as well as in a mixture of commercial isoenzyme preparations were successfully achieved by this technique.
