Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) on Silver Surfaces Activated by a Simple Chemical Treatment

Abstract

A simple method for preparing a "SERS-active" silver surface is presented. It is based on the action of a chemical-etching solution containing the ionic or molecular species to be adsorbed. SERS spectra of halide ions and pyridine are discussed.
