β-As2Te3 belongs to the family of Bi2Te3-based thermoelectric alloys, a well-known class of efficient thermoelectric materials and 3D topological insulators. It is demonstrated that substituting Sn for As enables the hole concentration to be tuned. These findings may open new avenues for the search of more efficient thermoelectric materials and for the realization of 3D-topological insulators.
