In 1906–1908 H. A. Rennert published his ‘Notes on the chronology of the Spanish drama’, MLR, II (1906–1907), 331–41; III (1907–1908), 43–55. The information which Rennert presents is in the form of an alphabetical list of play titles and is drawn primarily from a series of articles published in 1871 by G. Cruzada Villaamil. Rennert also included titles from a list of plays known to have been in the possession of Jeronimo Amella in Valencia in 1628, published by Henri Merimee, and from a document giving details of plays performed before the King and Queen in 1622 and 1623, published by Adolph Friedrich von Schack. The remaining entries, comparatively few in number, come from other printed sources.
