Abstract

A calculation of the resolving time one can obtain by the delayed coincidence method with a P.I.N. detector, is developed. The results show that submillimicrosecond time resolution can be obtained with a 2mm thick detector. Experimental results lead to 1.1 ns (FWHM) with a Co 60 source and 2.8 ns with a Na 22 source. The broadening of the prompt spectrum is explained in term of the electronic system noise.
