Three binary compounds, , , and are stable in the system. Solid solution was found only in , which contains up to 1.0 m/o (mole per cent) more indium than does stoichiometric . A rapid decrease in indium solubility, probably due to the inversion of tetragonal to isometric symmetry, occurs at 837°C. A high‐temperature form of may be present in the temperature range 657°–679°C. The compounds and , noted in previous studies, were not found. The electrical properties of are probably strongly affected by the deviation from stoichiometry as outlined in this study.
