Abstract The structure I for Zizyphin (C 33 H 49 O 6 N 5 ), a peptidic alkaloid isolated from the rootbark of Zizyphus oenoplia M ILL ., has been determined by chemical degradation and confirmed by N.M.R. investigation. The stereochemistry of Zizyphin has been elucidated with the exception of the configuration of the ether group of the hydroxyproline unit, which is expected to belong to the natural series.
