There is little information on the natural history of many Southeast Asian carnivores. Wildlife biologists have largely ignored the Mustelidae and Viverridae in this region, and information on the ecology and status of these large families is poorly represented in the literature. The binturong Arctictis binturong, a viverrid, and the yellow-throated marten Martes flavigula, a mustelid, have wide distributions in Southeast Asia yet their ecology remains largely unknown.
