Abstract

Abstract Coagulation factors were studied in rabbits with induced anaphylaxis and in control rabbits. In the anaphylactic group a decrease in platelets, coagulation factors V, IX, II+VII and fibrinogen was noted as well as an increase in antithrombic activity. In the control group an increase in factor IX was noted. The other factors were unchanged. We believe that increased intravascular coagulation is the cause of the changes in the coagulation factors and that it might at least in part contribute to the pathophysiology of the anaphylactic syndrome. Heparin treatment of conditions with consumption of coagulation factors is discussed.
