Tipper's compound [PtCl2(C3H6)]n has been shown to be a tetramer (n= 4). The bromo-analogue has also been prepared. The structure of these two compounds is shown, by chemical and spectroscopic studies, to be similar to that of the platinum(IV) alkyls.
