Theory to Practice: Applying Developmental Theories Relevant to African American Men

Abstract

Abstract This chapter examines several traditional developmental theories that may be revised to fit the needs of African American male college students and explains some new theories based on Africentric philosophy which may be useful in promoting self‐esteem. Practical applications of the models are presented.
