A TRUE understanding of disease demands thorough knowledge of the specific pathophysiologic and pathoanatomic processes involved, It is interesting, in this regard, that in only a few of the numerous disorders that affect human beings are the responsible mechanisms sufficiently defined to permit prediction of the clinical pictures.
