Inhibition of endogenous NO synthesis attenuates myocardial perfusion during adenosine-induced hyperemia, indicating that coronary vasodilation by adenosine is partly endothelium dependent. alpha-Adrenergic blockade has no effect on adenosine-induced hyperemia unless NO synthesis is inhibited.
