Abstract The work reported below forms a part of current investigations on the mode of antifungal action of tetramethylthiuram disulphide and other notorious sulphur fungicides. The relations between chemical constitution and fungistatic activity, and the structural conditions for optimum activity in the group of dithiocarbamates and thiuram disulphides are dealt with. In this group the dimethyldithiocarbamate ion contains all structural elements required for optimum antifungal activity.
