Abstract

A self-consistent approach for analyzing phase velocities and resonances in modern Josephson junction geometries is presented. The analysis is based on the two-dimensional wave equation for the scalar current potential. The boundary conditions for the normal and tangential derivatives of the scalar potential are given. These follow from conservation of the normal components of sheet current and magnetic flux, respectively, and automatically imply voltage continuity.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
