Field testing of inter- and intraspecific coalescence among mid-intertidal red algae

Abstract

3 dozen species in the orders Ahnfeltiales, Corallinales, Gigartinales, Gracilariales, Halymeniales, Palmariales and Rhodymeniales of the division Rhodophyta (see Santelices et al. 1999 for review). Many taxa in these orders (e.g. species in the genera Ahnfeltia, Ahnfeltiopsis, Callophyllis, Champia, Chondrus, Coral
