THE following case seemed worth reporting because of its embryologic significance and its apparent uniqueness.Case ReportAn infant, the product of a normal pregnancy of a 28-year-old gravida 4, para 3, was delivered by cesarean section at term because of placenta praevia. The baby weighed 3080 gm. and measured 50 cm. in length. On physical examination shortly after birth a symptomless circular, red, nodular mass was noted on the umbilical cord approximately 4 mm. from the umbilical-skin margin and measuring 4 mm. in diameter (Fig. 1).
