The distinction between brown trout and sea trout by the strontium content of their scales

Abstract

A method is described for distinguishing the scales of sea trout from brown trout by their strontium content. Scales of brown trout contain less than 200 μgSr/g and those of sea trout more than 300 μgSr/g.
