In a series of papers, we have reported the results of dielectric, magnetic and magnetoelectric studies of (R = rare earth between Nd and Lu, Y or Bi), proposing the possibility of ferroelectricity in these oxides, but the direct demonstration of ferroelectricity was lacking.
