Abstract

It has previously been pointed out that the nearly elastic isotropy of aluminum necessitates a very small internal friction. By making measurements over a range of grain size and of frequency, it is established that the internal friction of aluminum is less than a tenth of that of $\ensuremath{\alpha}$-brass under corresponding conditions.
