Abstract

(1) A number of drugs have been tested for leishmanicidal activity in cotton rats and hamsters. (2) Those drugs which are known to be clinically active, tartar emetic excepted, markedly influenced the infections in both animals. (3) We consider that the cotton rat compares favourably with the golden hamster as experimental host in chemotherapeutic tests with L. donovani infections.
