Abstract

Abstract We report on the pyroelectric effect in Langmuir-Blodgett films of 22-tricosenoic acid and 1-docosylamine and the effect of incorporating metallic cations. The dielectric properties of such organic assemblies have been measured and used to determine the figures of merit in thermal imaging devices. Films containing calcium and barium salts show significantly better performance than those incorporating the customary cadmium salt.
