ABSTRACT An initial combination of moderated doses of prednisone or prednisolone and cyclophosphamide seemed to be rapidly effective in controlling pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus with minimal side effects. An appropriate schedule of treatment is proposed. The clinical response correlated very well with the decreased titers of pemphigus antibodies which became negative within six months. Elevated serum immunoglobulin levels returned to normal in most of the cases.
