Atomic interferences and the topological phase

Abstract

By use of a longitudinal Stern-Gerlach polarization atomic device, we have demonstrated the manifestation of a topological phase for a beam of ${\mathrm{H}}^{\mathrm{*}}$(2s) atoms traveling through a conical magnetic field configuration.
