Abstract

A Vibrotron transducer on the sea bottom converts pressure into frequency of a stretched wire. The oscillations are counted and recorded on shipboard in a form suitable for subsequent filtering and spectrum analysis by high speed digital computers. Oscillation by 1 mm of water pressure in the frequency range 0.2 to 100 cycles/kilosec (periods 5000 to 10 sec) have been recorded at depths exceeding 100 m.
