Lead titanate sols were prepared by a sol‐gel method from lead acetate trihydrate, Pb(OOCCH 3 ) 2 3H 2 O, and titanium di‐isopropoxide bis‐acetylacetonate, Ti (OC 3 H 7 ) 2 ‐ (CH 3 COCHCOCH 3 ) 2 , in 1,3‐propanediol, HO(CH 2 ) 3 OH, as solvent. IR analysis and NMR spectroscopic techniques were used to study the reaction mechanisms and to identify possible polymer structures developed during synthesis of the solutions.
