Genetics and genomics in Brazil: a promising future

Abstract

This manuscript present an overview of Brazilian health care focusing on genetic services, and discuss some of our main challenges to establish organized genetic service networks across this large and socially inequitable country. Some important achievements in the last years were presented. Finally, we also present a brief historical background on human and medical genetics in Brazil.
