ABSTRACTEffects of wheel traffic soil compaction (8.5 Mg axle load) on the growth and yield corn and soybean were compared with 1) wheel traffic over entire soil surface, 2) wheel traffic on alternate rows, and 3) no extra wheel traffic. Com and soybean yields, averaged over four years, were not significantly different. In individual years, yields varied according to soil moisture and weather conditions.
