Abstract The Mannich dimethylaminomethylation of carbonyl compounds is conveniently carried out via trimethylsilyl enol ethers by a combination of chloroiodomethane and N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyldiaminomethane in DMSO or DMF as the solvent at ambient temperature.
