Comparative Investigations of the Hollow Cathode and Glow Discharge Light Sources Further Considerations

Abstract

Abstract The voltage-current characteristic curves of the hollow cathode and glow discharge light sources were compared under different experimental conditions involving the use of Ar and He as the carrier gas and of Al and graphite as the cathodic material. The dependence of line intensity on gas pressure was also studied. Results allowed to select the best operative parameters for each system examined. As a rule, the most promising features were shown by the hollow cathode lamp with Ar.
