Abstract

Abstract Recently with Au-Cs-melts measurements of some physical properties were done such as electrical conductivity,1 thermoelectric power,1 electromigration,2 and magnetic susceptibility.3 According to these results appreciable changes in binding must occur during the transition from the pure metal melts to the AuCs-melt. It was assumed that the AuCs-melt is ionic, i.e. consists of Cs+-and Au−-ions.4 The difference in Paulings's electronegativities5 of Cs and Au supported this assumption. This fact led us to the investigation of the structure and the density of Au-Cs-melts. In the present second part the diffraction experiments performed with fast neutrons on Au-Cs-melts will be presented.
