The proposed method for measuring the spin of $S$-wave neutron resonances is based on the detailed properties of the low-energy capture $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray spectrum. Measurements on nuclei with resonances of known spin show that this method gives reliable spin assignments. It is also applied to unassigned resonances in $^{167}\mathrm{Er}$ and $^{187,189}\mathrm{Os}$.
