Ibadan is the largest West African city with a popu- lation of approximately 1 2 million. It is the capital of the Western State of Nigeria and the headquarters of the State Ministry of Health. The Northern and Western areas of the city are fairly well developed, whereas the Southern and Eastern parts of the city are poorly developed, overcrowded, and with poor sanitation.
