The reaction of Rh 2 Cl 2 (cyclo-C 8 H 12 ) 2 with t-BuP(CH 2 CH 2 CH2PMe 2 ) 2 gave RhCl[t-BuP(CH 2 CH 2 CH 2 PMe 2 ) 2 ] (1) which was characterized by its 1 H and 31 P NMR spectra. 1 interacted with carbon dioxide to produce Rh(O 2 CO)Cl[t-BuP(CH 2 CH 2 CH 2 PMe 2 ) 2 ](2) and CO. 2 was studied by IR and 13 C and 31 P NMR spectroscopy as well as by an X-ray structure analysis. There is no evidence for any production of carbon dioxide derivatives containing C- or C- and O- bound integer CO 2 ligands.
