Abstract

A new ichnotaxon Triassohyponomus dinmorensis gen. et. sp. nov. is proposed for a thigmotactic curved linear feeding trace in the voltziacean conifer leaf Heidiphyllum elongatum (Morris) Retallack 1981 from the Late Triassic Ipswich Coal Measures in southeastern Queensland. It is the earliest described record of leaf mining and the first record of insect feeding in the voltziacean conifers. The record of insect/plant interactions from the Triassic is briefly reviewed.
