Preoperative Diagnosis of Choledochal Cyst by Hepatoscintography

Abstract

THE preoperative diagnosis of congenital cystic dilatation of the common bile duct (eholedochal cyst) continues to represent a challenging surgical and radiologic exercise. The classic triad of abdominal pain, jaundice and an abdominal mass suggests the diagnosis.1 Direct radiographic demonstration by intravenous cholangiography is possible only during a remission of the jaundice.2 In a case recently encountered at the Boston Floating Hospital for Infants and Children the eholedochal cyst was shown by liver scanning with the use of radioactive rose bengal despite the presence of clinical and chemical jaundice.Case ReportA 3-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital in . . .
