Two sampling procedures used to estimate the distribution of the length of textile fibres are studied. Estimators of the density function of fibre length and the asymptotic properties of these estimators are discussed. Simulations were undertaken to compare mean square errors of the estimators for various sample sizes. © 1988, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
