Mild hydrothermal conditions can be used to synthesize the first inorganic–organic hybrid fluorochromium(III) phosphite. The crystal structure (see unit cell) shows that the material consists of double chains of alternating CrO3F3 octahedra and HPO3 tetrahedra. Furthermore, the magnetic behavior indicates the existence of antiferromagnetic interactions.
