The Behavior of Theta Ophiuchi during Four Cycles in April, 1956.

Abstract

Measures have been made on 152 McDonald spectrograms, taken on four consecutive nights. The radial velocity shows the cyclical variation with a period of 3L22 , but all four curves are distorted by secondary fluctuations Velocities from lines originating at different levels reveal the existence of differential motions in the atmosphere of the star Weak emission lines of Ca ii 3933, He I 3965, and Mg ii 81 appear around the time of maximum velocity.
