Abstract

Summary Geochemistry may help in the diagnosis of facies, especially where petrography or palaeontology alone are unable to answer questions of genesis or environment. Apart from fundamental genetic relations, accidental connections between geochemistry and local conditions of facies or horizon may sometimes be of use within limited regions in practical geology.
