Studies on the Utilization of Hydrocarbons by Microorganisms

Abstract

1. Five strains were isolated from soil with the aromatic hydrocarbon substrates as a sole carbon source. 2. They were identified as closely resembl-ing Pseudomonas desmolytica. They produced cumic acid during the growth on p-cymene. 3. Addition of calcium carbonate and considerable agitation were favorable cultural conditions for the acid production.
