Some hydrogen abstraction reactions of the trichloromethyl radical

Abstract The gas phase photolysis of CCl 4 in the presence of several alkanes has been used to obtain Arrhenius parameters for the abstraction of hydrogen atoms by the CCl 3 radical: magnified image The following log k 4 values were obtained: RH log k 4 c ‐C 5 H 10 , n‐C 6 H 14 2,3‐Dimethylbutane c ‐C 7 H 14 Methylcyclohexane c ‐C 8 H 16 The results are compared to those for CH 3 and CF 3 radicals.
