Abstract Soil samples collected from different regions of Iran contained Xiphinema oxycaudatum Lamberti & Bleve-Zacheo, 1979, X. rivesi Dalmasso, 1969 and X. pachtaicum (Tulaganov, 1938) Kirjanova, 1951. The first two species are reported for the first time from Iran. The latter species was previously reported from vineyards in Iran (Mojtahedi et al., 1980), but the Iranian specimens were not described. Populations on different hosts are compared. Special attention was given to the structure of the odontostyle bases and that of the reproductive system because of their possible importance in species differentiation.
