Formation of a Spheromak Plasma Configuration

Abstract

A compact, toroidal configuration of magnetized plasma is produced by a combination of $Z$- and $\ensuremath{\theta}$-pinch discharges. A paramagnetic toroidal field is produced by currents circulating in the plasma on closed flux surfaces.
