A Two‐Dimensional Ice with the Topography of Edge‐Sharing Hexagons Intercalated between CdNi(CN)₄Layers

Abstract

Fitting structurally on each other, the corrugated layers comprising alternately [CdNi(CN)4]∞ and H2O molecules are stacked in crystals of the title compound. Two H2O molecules coordinated trans at a Cd atom connect the layers. Six H2O molecules form a network of edge-sharing hexagons through hydrogen bonding; more H atoms are present here than can be accounted for in the formation of the maximum number of hydrogen bonds in this network.
